Dry power transformers differ from oil transformers in the way they are cooled. HV windings are coated with epoxy resin under vacuum. PN windings can be made either by casting or resin-impregnated prepreg.

They are produced in the power range of 25-25000 kVA, voltage up to 36 kV with natural air (AN) or fan (AF) cooling. By using a cooling fan, you can increase the power by up to 40%.

The production of dry transformers, which requires advanced technology and knowledge, is increasing its market share every day compared to oil transformers, due to the increasing customer demand in recent years. However, with modern technologies, the production of high-capacity dry-type transformers, especially with a voltage higher than 36 kV, is associated with technological difficulties.

Research and development on this topic continues in full swing. No environmentally hazardous coolant such as oil, less risk of ignition, no need for maintenance, moisture and moisture resistance, can be put into operation at any time without long-term use, and can be loaded up to 40% of rated power with enhanced fan cooling. it is better than oil distribution transformers.

  However, the most important negative aspect of dry-type distribution transformers, which have a higher selling price compared to oil-type transformers of the same capacity, has been an increased sales share in recent years.
