Electric and gas high-voltage switches are operational control devices for controlling the high-voltage power supply line. These devices have a very similar design to oil devices, but at the same time, they use NOT an oil mixture to extinguish the arc, but a combination of gases. Most often it is sulfur. Oil switches require special care: periodic oil change and cleaning of working contacts are required according to regulations. Elegaz have no need for this. The main advantage of elegase is its durability: it does not age and minimally pollutes the mechanical parts of the device. A load switch is used in SK-35 cells. Power contacts of the switch in a non-gas environment in a hermetic chamber. The service life is 20 years without the need for maintenance and refueling with elegas. The three-pole switch has 2 main positions. The grounding contact is also located in a hermetic chamber with elegas. The system of mechanical and electrical mutual blocking between the load switch and the grounding contact eliminates the wrong position of the contacts. The load switch can be equipped with a motor for remote control. The drive also optionally controls the grounding of cables. By default, cells are equipped with grounding cables, but this option can be turned off to save space.

Principle of operation and purpose
High-voltage electric and gas circuit breakers work by isolating the phases from each other with the help of electric gas. When the signal that it is necessary to turn off the electrical equipment is activated, the contacts of individual cameras (if the device is a column) are opened. Thus, the built-in contacts form an arc that is placed in a gas environment. It decomposes the gas into separate components, but at the same time it decreases itself due to the high pressure in the container. If the system is installed at low pressure, then additional compressors are used to increase the pressure and create a gas blast. Shunting is additionally used to equalize the current.

The electric and gas switch consists of three independent poles, each of which has a static and a moving contact. Extinction of the electric arc between the contacts takes place in a non-gas environment in a guaranteed hermetic system. The switch mechanism is equipped with an actuator controlled both manually and remotely. The switches are equipped with a reset function. Possibility of various mechanical and electrical interlocks when used together with a load switch or disconnector.
The main contacts of the switch-disconnector are located in the case of the switch, made of epoxy resin, filled with elegas (SF6) 1.5 bar, gas tightness and lifetime guaranteed. The contacts of the main circuit of the switch-disconnector can be in one of two positions: "on (closed)" / "off (open)". The earthing disconnect switch is located outside the epoxy housing and the user can directly and safely observe its position. For safe operation, there is a mechanical interlock between the earthing disconnect switch and the main circuit contacts. The explosion safety of gas-filled pole epoxy housings is ensured by a protective membrane on the lower cover. Auxiliary contact options are available, indicating the position of the main circuit and earthing disconnect switch. Mechanical lock (locking) system settings are possible. A manual control mechanism with a lever or optionally with a motor can be installed. The installed mechanism has a storage energy reserve for switching on (closing) / switching off (opening). On (close)/off (open) operations can be performed by buttons or trip coil. If necessary, an emergency shutdown system with a fuse can be installed for protection. A locking mechanism is possible. The gas-free switch-disconnector (Sf6) can be equipped with a hermetically sealed, temperature-compensated digital pressure sensor type VB640 with two alarm contacts if necessary.
