Cabinets of automatic reserve input of the AVR series are designed for uninterrupted supply of lighting circuits and power electrical equipment from two independent power sources by means of automatic switching of contactors from one power supply line to another when the supply voltage disappears in single-phase and three-phase alternating current networks with a voltage of 220 and 38. AVR devices are made in metal boxes with IP21 and IP54 degree of protection. The overall dimensions of the products depend on the type of components, metering devices and built-in circuit.

Features of AVR schemes used:

Schemes of primary connections are divided into introductory (with metering devices) and schemes without metering devices. Schemes with two inputs (main and backup) and an output combined in a common load circuit, and schemes with two inputs (Input-1, Input-2) and a sectional switch in the load circuit are also used.

In AVR devices with main and backup inputs in normal mode, the power supply to the load circuit is supplied through the automatic switch QF1 and the contactor KM1 of the main input. When the supply voltage on the main input disappears, automatic switching to the backup input occurs. The return to the main input is also carried out in automatic mode.

In AVR devices with a sectional switch, both inputs are normally operational, and the sectional switch is in the off position. When the voltage on any of the inputs disappears, the contactor of the de-energized input is turned off and the sectional contactor is turned on. When the supply voltage is restored to the previously de-energized input, the sectional contactor is automatically turned off and the input contactor is turned on. An adjustable time delay, within 0.15–10 seconds, is provided for triggering the sectional contactor. In devices with input metering devices, load switches are additionally installed and input automatic switches with a breaking capacity of at least 10 kA are used.

Devices are manufactured in accordance with TU U 31.2-32729641-004:2011.
